Checking In with Updates and Exciting News

Hey everyone! I am so sorry I haven't updated my blog recently. I have been SO busy with my life and the weather and has been getting chilly and, yes, I'll admit, when it comes to cold I can be a little bit wimpy. Haha, I have been out to see Woody everyday though and he is doing well. We have had a couple sessions which have mostly taken place in the round pen, and all is well. About a week ago I went out and did a pre-flight check, put on the bareback pad and his hackamore, and hopped on! Its so nice to have that relationship there so that he is comfortable with what we are doing because of all the practice and preparation and I know I can trust him... thanks Parelli! Anyways, I got on and did a couple things to check our communication (i.e. 1 rein stop, 9 step back-up, how much it took to stop and go, etc). Then my dad came out and watched us do follow the rail all the way around the pasture (trotted a bit, too) and also disengage the hindquarters, do a bit of Sideways along the fence, and stuff like that. He was pretty impressed I think. Basically for this session we just reviewed and bummed around, hanging out together.
Another VERY exciting thing that has happened is my mom and I's plan for next summer. We have been talking and, since we both went to see Harry Whitney and enjoyed it thoroughly, my mom checked out his 2009 clinic schedule. She talked to a lady who is hosting a clinic the week of June 22nd about joining the class, and it turns out that is a week of 3 other mother-daughter groups around my age going to see Harry. So, my mom signed up and we are now officially going to spend a WHOLE HORSIFIED WEEK WITH HARRY WHITNEY! I am SO excited about the clinic, I could scream. The clinic is in eastern TN, about 2 hours away from our house. It'll be such a good experience for Woody me, Mom, and Charlotte to learn more about our horses and how they tick. The clinic description also includes a possibilty of working cows a bit, which I have always wanted to do but never have. Its definitely going to be a knowledge-filled, action oacked week for all four of us.
Alright well, thats all the updates for now, but I will check back in later!
P.S. I just finished making Sassy, my old horse, a page about how she is and what her story is with our family. I will be putting updates on that page about her in her new home as I hear more on how she's doing. Go check it out!
