Last Night

Last night was definitely very interesting for both my mom and I and for the horses. We went out there, not really knowing what we were going to do, and it turned into us hiding in the trees, running around, doing anything we could to spark the horses curiosity. The horses were absolutely hysterical to watch! We started by just sitting at the barn, waiting and spending undemanding time with them. Charlotte came up to Mom after about 10 minutes of us sitting there, and she stood by her for some time, before she got bored (typical Charlotte). Wood came up to me a couple of times, but left after about a couple of minutes each time. Once they had both left us and were eating, Mom had an idea: "What do you think would happen if we all the sudden got up and starting mirroring each other around the field?" To which I replied, "What?" We decided to try it, and right away the horses heads shot up, and watched us intently. After a little while of walking trotting and cantering around (I'm sure if anyone would of seen us they would have thought we were crazy... haha), we decided to hide in this grove of 3 huge pine trees, and see what they would do. It was so funny to watch them react because they tried not to make it obvious they were interested (typical LB horses), but they would mosey around until, what do you know, they showed up at the trees. Soon following the arrival, Woody snorted, Charlotte ran through the trees (and almost over us), and that was the end of THAT encounter. We hid behind a couple more trees until both of them came up to the correct leader, followed us a bit, and then were rewarded with a cookie. After this happened we threw a bit of hay, and left. I can only imagine what our horses were thinking. Isn't it interesting how a plan can evolve so much when you just listen to your horse and allow the change?
Today I am going to go out and hopefully (depending on Woody) do a little of the Liberty trotting and cantering circles we did with Terrie, practice a couple of other patterns, and maybe even do a bit of Follow the Rail. Also, I am going to help Mom with her playing Touch It with Charlotte by placing little bits of cookies on some barrels everyone in a while. That should DEFINITELY intrigue Charlotte!
I will update later today about how the play session went.
Until then,
~Eden
