Winter Blues

Well at this moment I am sitting at my computer, listening to the pounding wind at the windows and wishing it were warmer and dryer. The past couple days have been nothing but rain, and when the occasional break comes, its too wet to do anything with Wood! I don't like this weather at all.
Since I last updated I have had another good session with Wood (the day after the last post, I have been lazy) and we went for another walk down the drive. Halfway down the drive, Dad wanted to ride a horse. So, he tried mounting Charlotte. But, after attempting once and resulting with her being kneed in the withers, she didn't want him on her. So, he turned to Woody and 5 minutes later he was one Wood's back with Wood just standing there, not bothered a bit. We went up the drive a bit and he would try to trot up the big hill to gain momentum, but unfortunately I had to shut him down because of the beginner on his back. They had a pretty good ride. We just walked around, but he handled it well. It was really funny to see my dad on Woody and I kept saying to myself "Where's my camera when I need it?" After he got off, we played some more but I decided not to ride because of the time of day (it was closing in on dusk) and I though Woody had had a good session.
Since then, however, I haven't had an actual play session. I have gone out to feed him twice everyday and interacted then, but I haven't gotten a halter on him.
A couple of days ago when I went to throw hay, he had a big LBE moment. I came up to him, rubbed his face and his itchy spot, and once that was over he and Charlotte both started trotting to the barn. leaving me at the top of the hill by myself. I knew they would come back, so I waited and a couple minutes later they both walked back to me. I started to rub his face and all the sudden I heard a snap and saw something yellow in Wood's mouth. He had broken the plastic lei I had around my neck (that I had forgotten about) and all the bunched up plastic was unraveling. He was standing there looking at me and with an obvious amusement on his face, so I decided to get the lei, tie it like a halter around his head and lead him around with it, and play with him a bit. 10 minutes later I lowered his head and took the "halter" off which he did very nicely. That was definitely the high point of my dreary 2nd day of exams.
I am now officially halfway through the school year, and I can't believe how fast it is going. I had exams last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and I got my grades back and only got 1 B and the other 5 were As! I couldn't be more happy because my semester grades were all As too! Sounds like a pretty sweet end of semester to me.
Christmas is just around the corner and I have pretty much finished all my shopping. I really really hope that it'll be a white Christmas in Roanoke this year, and with this crazy weather, who knows...
