P-L-A-Y

Today is a blustery, chilly day, but when I went out to feed the horses, they didn't seem excited like they occasionally are on colder days. I gave them both and apple, scratched Woody's itchy spots a bit, then started walking around Woody following me around. We started to trot a bit down a hill, and then we both started running down it. His expression was so happy with his ears up and his head shaking. Of course, Charlotte came galloping after us, riling Woody and I both up more. He and I kept running and he started bucking and carrying on. I slowed down and hung back, running back a bit, and he wheeled around to face me his face so excited I ran toward him driving him to one side and he took off to that side, bucking again. We kept going back and forth, chasing each other around... it was so fun! Then, he and Charlotte took off around the field while I stayed where I was smiling and staring. Once Charlotte had had enough, she stopped but Woody kept going around and around until I got his attention and he came trotting up to me. He went around again, stopped, yawned, licked a chewed, and soon after came up to me again. I went to throw out hay after that. It was so fun and awesome to see him playing with me! He's such a great, expressive, and fun pony!
Things to work on: keep finding ways to incorporate that play drive into our sessions.
