Hey everyone. I have been SO busy lately that I haven't had time to play with Woody that much, much less update my blog! 2 weeks ago school started back up, and I have been trying to juggle school, my job, and Woody time. As you can tell, it hasn't been going too well! On top of all that, our whole family went to our cousin Chris's wedding this weekend, which was a lot of fun. So, I have not been able to spend a WHOLE lot of time with Woody, but I have done a little. Here are the main points:
*I have been walking him around outside the pasture alot because of the lack of grass in the pasture.
*I have been trying to be as light as POSSIBLE, while still getting the message to his feet AND his brain (I have been giving a much longer phase 1, and then following with a semi quick 2-3-4).
*We have become much better at the circling game (#5) because rather than leading. lifting, swinging all at the same time, I have been leeeeeeading, and tagging where he shoulder is (if his shoulder isn;t out of the way, that's his problem). At first he was very extroverted about how he responded to the tag, but after a couple of times, he was out of the way more calmely.
*I have had to tell him to wipe that look off his face a couple of times, but once I do he looks at me with his ears up and yes ma'am!
The biggest thing I have been doing is trying to ask and suggest rather than yell all the time. He is doing pretty well, but I have noticed he had gotten much fatter again!
Also, Charlotte hurt her leg on last friday night. We came out to the pasture, and she had cuts all up one leg, and a small scrape on the other. So, we called the vet, and Dr. Hatchett came out and drained one wound that had fluid in it. Mom is hosed her leg twice a day for about a week, and is now checking on it and hosing once a day and putting oitment on it. It looks a lot better now, and most of the swelling has gone down. The vet said that from where the scrapes were (some on the insides of her leg), it looks as if she attempted to go OVER something.
